Today it all went perfect.
This morning was the Sing In at our school. All the grade levels sit in a huge circle and each group takes a turn to sing a song they have prepared. There is a piano and a chair in the middle and Santa comes in, sings and listens and we give the teachers a bag of candy canes to pass out. Our principal sang with the choir and they sang Christmas Shoes. He and they did great.
We had an office luncheon with great food. I was once again overwhelmed with the gifts that were given me. I thought about why I would get so many gifts from teachers and parents and I realized that we are there are so many people that we help each day for so many reasons. It is humbling to get so much. Each day when I came home I put it on the edge of my counter and no one could touch it till today. I wanted to see it all. Wow, is all I have to say.
The afternoon was spent with parents coming to come and help with class parties and lots of happy children. We were so busy with checking them in and out and checking the kids out when the parents left and getting paper towels, trash cans, extra trash bags and vacuums. We took down all the Christmas decorations before we left so when we come back on January 3rd, it is not Christmas there anymore.
When I got home I had 40 minutes and then I went to the ward Christmas party. I was in charge of the nativity scenes. Here is a great idea if you are ever in need of a good way to display items. Take two church tables and set them by each other to make one wide table. Then put a nursery table with the short legs on the back table. Whalla, a two tiered display table. I covered with table cloths and strung lights across. We had about 18 nativity scenes for the people to view.
At the Christmas party we had great food. 17 hams from Costco and salad and rolls from Costco. Tons of potato casserole from BYU catering and BYU mint brownies. Plenty of good hot food. Our ward is so huge that we used the stake center and had 35 tables of people! We had a great turnout.
During the Christmas party we had a play put on by 20 children. What made this perfect was there was a narrator and the kids had not many speaking parts but they had mikes on them so when they did speak we could hear them. The play was about an orphanage and a little girl who did not get an orange but the children when they ate theirs they saved a piece for her.
It is all cleaned up and the day is over and it was a perfect day!
